My list for UI dev

Hi,

Just my 2 cents on people or groups we could contact if they would like
to help (start the) development of the UI.

Thinking about the fact the language should not be an issue the idea
came to mind that a web framework dev group could be asked to prove
their framework to the world and make the first (or best) mail
webinterface before the other frame works. And the second reason could
be the fact that they (except for Django) can say that they help build a
webinterface against a backend in another language, to still the
language wars :)

Another thing is that in such communities design and coders join together.

So the first 4 are:

1. Django Project
2. TurboGears

Both Python, you see the connection

3. Rails Project

A personal thing, me wanting to learn Ruby :)

4. CakePHP Project

Yeah php is still big in www land so it should be considered :)

These are the 4 I came up with, if someone has other favorites put them
forward.

5. Schools or courses

I know, it's not specific but I couldn't find a school or course that
quick. The idea here is to ask exam classes if they could code or design
(whichever type of school/course it is) a UI as part of there exam of
final assignment.

Hopefully this helps a bit and when not, well then not :)

Have Fun,

Michel

I agree with Michel,

We should target framework development groups. They have the knowledge
and the know-how to create and implement the killer features we all know
Bongo can provide.

Recently I was asked if we had a binding for ruby which I think could
have been a good thing to have.

Our sales pitch to these groups is that we are a GPL2+ software stack
that allows you as the developer to expand your mind and almost do
anything.

The discussions recently about XMPP support actually make a bit of sense
to me.

The problem we have is that we rely to much on 2 individuals to do all
the coding on this project. They do do it for the love but it is an
unfair situation on them and their families. We need to recruit more c
developers..

We cannot remedy this until we get more exposure so that we can recruit
more developers into our project who will help on the c backend but
also on the other day to day tasks. This will allow Alex and Pat to
concentrate on where we are going with the backend and the rest of us to
take the web front end forward.

I hopefully will be able to start contributing more as soon as I get
better with what I am doing. Some on the IRC channel have expressed an
interest in perhaps helping with the python bindings and the Debian /
Ubuntu packaging I greatly welcome this as it means we can get another
view on how we should be doing things.

I know this is not much of a list but I hope it carries my thoughts
across and is not intended to insult or upset anyone.

Thanks

Lance
